Vada was born  Vada Elaine Wilkins, on May 29, 1925 to Benjamin Harrison and Lizzie Whetzel Wilkins on Branch Mountain, Mathias, WV.

She was the middle child of 17 children total.

On May 27, 1950 she gave birth to her first child, Norma.    She became the wife to Roy E. Green of Weston, WV and together they had 4 children.  Roger, Sarah, Tony and Janet

On July 5, 1982 her son Roger was killed in an automobile accident near their home.   Then on Aug 1, 1982 her husband, Roy was killed in an accident in front of their home.

Vada worked at a nursing home in Woodstock until she had to have a triple bypass surgery on her heart, then she retired.  She loved spending time with her family, and looked forward every year to planning the Wilkins reunion with her sister in law Betty Wilkins.  She would spend weekends at Betty and Virgil's home just to plan for the reunion and to be together.   She also enjoyed spending time with her best friend Rene Custer.  They would spend lots of time together and have a great time.

On May 1, 1993 she married Marvin D. Combs of Harrisonburg, Va.   Vada lived in Harrisonburg until her death on July 19, 2001 where she died at their home.  She had been ill for quite some time.   She suffered from diabetes and had her leg removed in 1996.  She spent the rest of her life in a wheelchair.  Because of her diabetes she began to loose her eyesight as well and it also affected her memory.

Vada  had 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

She was a wonderful woman and a faithful christian.  She loved God above all else and then her family.  Her greatest wish was to know that she would see her children again in heaven.
